2025 National championship

GTO / GTU / GP1 / GP2 / GP3

Best 13 finishes count, each weekend consists of two points-paying opportunities. All 2025 events count towards National Championship - 11 event weekends total. There are 22 total points-paying opportunities per-class in 2025 including regional and National Championships. National Championship round is at COTA - National Championship trophies will be awarded following the COTA round. Races with a duration of 12+ hours count as 2x race finishes for the purpose of calculating points.

Best 7 finishes count, each weekend consists of two points-paying opportunities. The 2025 Eastern Championship events are detailed below - 5 event weekends total. 10 total points-paying opportunities per-class in 2025 including Sebring Eastern Championship. Eastern Championship round is at Sebring - Eastern Championship trophies will be awarded following the Sebring round.

2025 mid/west championship

The 2025 Mid-West Championship events are detailed below - 5 event weekends total. 10 total points-paying opportunities per-class in 2025 including High Plains Mid-West Championship. Mid-West Championship trophies will be awarded following our event at Utah Motorsports Campus.

2025 super endurance cup (sec)

GTO / GTU / GP1 / GP2 / GP3

Back for 2025 is the WRL Super Endurance Cup (SEC)! The SEC covers all of WRL’s long format endurance weekends and is comprised of WRL’s long-format races running into the night and finishing under the lights. All finishes count, each weekend consists of two points-paying opportunities (each race finish counts for 2x - see points rules below). Stay tuned for additional information about this championship.

2025 Championship Rules

See below for 2025 Championship rules, points payouts and additional information

Points Payout Schedule by position:

P1: 12 Points P2: 10 Points P3: 9 Points P4: 7 Points P5: 6 Points P6: 5 Points P7: 4 Points P8: 3 Points P9: 2 Points P10: 1 Point

+1 Point to each paying position for all classes with 7 or more competitors starting the race
+1 Point to each paying position for all regional and national championship rounds

2025 Points championship rules:

  1. Points are assigned to the car in which they were earned.

  2. All points are collected ONLY in the class you are registered for. If you would like to change class after registering you must receive prior approval from officials and the car must tech legal for that class.

  3. Points cannot be combined between two cars.

  4. Races under 12 hours count 1X, 12-18 hours 2X, over 18 hours 3X

  5. Classes with 7+ starters get an additional point for P1-P10

  6. In order to earn points a car must complete at least 50% of the class winners laps.

  7. Teams are responsible for verifying the points total and making any discrepancies known to WRL staff no later than 30 days after event date. After 30 days event points will be considered final and no adjustments will be made. Points for the National Championship will be calculated immediately following the COTA round.

  8. In the event of a total-loss, teams may replace the car with the same make/model/generation running in the same class at WRL discretion. If a car is retired and replaced (with WRL approval) during a race, the retirement will count as a DNF. Contact Race@RaceWRL.com for approval

  9. Earning Points

    1. Points will be paid according to Points Payout schedule above

    2. Daytona 14 hour will count as 2 race finishes.

    3. High Plains 13 hour will count as 2 race finishes.

    4. All races 12+ hours in duration will count as 2 race finishes.

  10. Championship bonus points: The following championship rounds will incur an extra bonus point per point-paying position (see above)

    1. Eastern Championship - Sebring International Raceway

    2. Mid/West Championship - Utah Motorsports Campus

    3. National Championship - Circuit of the Americas

  11. Drops: The points system will automatically drop the lowest-point finishes.

    1. DQ: “disqualified” - results are eligible to be “dropped”

      1. NOTE: Gross/intentional cheating/subversion is subject to lifetime series ban per 2025 rules at WRL discretion.

    2. DNF: “did not finish” - results are eligible to be “dropped”

    3. The following number of finishes will count per championship

      1. National Championship - 13 Finishes will count (22 available)

      2. Eastern Championship - 7 finishes will count (10 available)

      3. Mid/West Championship - 7 finishes will count (10 available)

      4. Super Endurance Cup - TBA

  12. Champions will be recognized at each respective Championship Event

    1. National Championship - COTA

    2. Eastern Championship - Sebring

    3. Mid/West Championship - Utah Motorsports Campus

    4. Super Endurance Cup - TBA

  13. National Overall Champion - The National Overall Championship is a championship comprised of all points collected by a team across all classess. All finishes will be considered (no drops). This will be awarded at COTA.

  14. TIE BREAKERS - If points are tied in any category at the conclusion of any championship we will determine the winner by who has the most of the following in order: 1st place finishes, 2nd place finishes, 3rd place finishes, etc. Until a team is determined to have more higher placing finishes than the other tie breaker team.
